New Moon in Gemini(Vedic)/Cancer(tropical) at 5:01am Monday 4 July 2016

All that Water!  Can you spot the mystic rectangle?~L

New Moon in Cancer, 04 July, Let’s Begin & Initiate
Waxing Phases favor actions involving planting anew and moving forward, as energy increases until the next Full Moon in Capricorn 19 July 2016.”

July 1st ~ 8th

No man is an island entire of itself;

every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;

if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less,

as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends

or of thine own were;

any man’s death diminishes me,

because I am involved in mankind;

and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls,

it tolls for thee.

~ John Donne

 “As mentioned last week, Mars is also trine Chiron, and will continue to do so through much of July. This week, Venus joins the picture to form a Venus, Mars, Chiron Grand Trine in the Water signs. Mercury and Sun will also do so over the next few weeks.  Wherever Chiron is currently traveling, is where we feel both our existential and actual pain and suffering. It is the pain itself that compels us to find the best remedies for our current situation.

The inclination could be to cut ourselves off from others. (This is so unwelcome for me, my habitual reaction to pain is to take myself away, so that I don’t hurt others in my pain.  Like a fox caught in a trap, I fear that i will bite the hand that frees me, or feel obligation–connection– more than I fear dealing with pain in isolation.  THAT I am familiar with.  Being vulnerable, not so much.  So there’s my first swing at embracing my biggest fear–showing my pain to others.  If you’ll excuse me, I think I will faint now.~L) To cocoon ourselves in our own suffering. But it is actually through doing just the opposite, by allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, and sharing our pain with others, that we find healing (I am sooooo skeptical, but I will run the experiment. ~L).

With 6 planets and Chiron, in water signs for the New Moon on Monday, we are being asked to gather the tribe and reinforce our our support systems. As Venus comes to join the Mars/Chiron trine, we are being given opportunities to: bond with others; to forgive self and others; for deep soul healing; for mending bridges; making offerings of peace; and to create greater wholeness by accepting and appreciating the differences in each other, and the ways that we fill in each other’s spaces.

Reminded with this Moon that we must never lose our empathy and compassion. When someone is harmed, even if they be far away, even if they seem not to be related to us, we are all harmed in some way. For we are all a part of this one great humanity, and all interconnected in ways that are not always apparent.

Therefore, let us allow ourselves to make those important connections, seek meaning, arrive at understanding, and realize our interconnectedness with one another, not only in our families and communities, but within the larger whole.”

“This week holds the New Moon in Cancer on Monday July 4th. Hey, with Canada Day on Friday and Independence Day on Monday, we Canadians and Americans, both get a long weekend. Oh, that is, if you Americans still get national holidays off work.(😀~L)

The Sun and the New Moon in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces. This is a strong indication for the positive expression of the best of humanity. Spiritual inspiration and emotional sensitivity are promoted. In our individual lives we are encouraged to initiate the expression of compassionate support for each other.

Make the personal initiative on this New Moon an initiative to feel better. The trick is to allow the negative thinking patterns that maintain the difficult feelings to wash away. Wednesday the Venus in Cancer trine Mars in Scorpio aspect represents positive reinforcement. Our feelings are lined up with our desires. With the Sun conjunct Mercury, also, this day, we are encouraged to communicate about our wants and needs.

We gain a perspective on where we are headed. We may review our long-range plans and make adjustments to our efforts. This is a time that encourages hidden information to come out.”

“Caring For Our Needs: Monday’s New Moon in Cancer
I want to live in a world where everyone is afforded the ability to take care of their own needs. And the needs of their loved ones. A world where The System prioritizes self-care. A world where self-determination is possible.  I want to live in a world that knows that hurt people hurt people and healed people heal people so we focus on helping folks heal. A world where mean-spirited violence and intolerance are not an option so they get interrupted immediately before they are allowed to take root. I want to live in a world full of self-correcting communities.   A world where no pain goes unprocessed, no fear gets to fester, no greed goes unchecked. A world that understands its own imperfection. A world full of grown folks that know how to get down and children that feel safe enough to discover who they are. A world where creativity is the currency, where prisons are replaced with healing centers and no human potential is pissed away.
[I want to live in a world] where it is known that to cause harm to another is to harm ourselves.

The next lunation cycle opens up with a beautifully charged new moon in Cancer on July 4th at 4:01 AM PT. The moon is at home in the waters of the crab and therefore powerful and willing to work with us. Cancer is a sign known for its ability to promote connection, help healing occur and initiate us into the realm of feeling.  It tips us off to the fact that if we want to feel ecstasy we have to open to feeling despair.

This new moon initiates a lunation cycle that is loaded with helpful astrology. The first 1/2 of the cycle brings us trines between all of the water signs and the last half brings us trines between the fire signs. Water trines help us to access the gift of sensitivity, the power of our emotional intelligence and can bring about copious amounts of healing with great ease. Fire trines help us find our passion, our enthusiasm and our creative genius. With Mercury and Mars both direct by the time of the new moon we are free to build with this cycle unencumbered by retrogrades.

The opposition from Pluto demands that we purge the emotional garbage that we carry with us and that we collect along the way. Pluto loves to make power plays. It loves to trip us up and test our egos. It loves to create situations that are extreme, cathartic, colossal and transformative. This adds extra emotion to an already sensitizing situation.

Try not to get caught in emotional power plays. Stay close to your feelings and feed them what they need. Cancer takes things personally. Don’t. This new moon is bound to hit everyone right in the feels so give the emotions room to roam and sort themselves out.

Mars sits at the 23rd degree of Scorpio, having recently stationed direct at this degree. It will stay here until mid-July, dragging its heals, proving a point, and deepening our understanding of the violence that we create when we participate in the betrayal of life’s needs. Mars in Scorpio, especially as it is stationing direct, shows us the horrors that humanity creates when wounds go unhealed, but it also shows us the power we each hold to transform our pain into a life that is on purpose.

It’s time to heal and hold each other close, dear ones. We are our everything.

New moon blessings,”

“The beautiful and loving New Moon in Cancer.

Happening on the 4th of July at 7:02 am Eastern Time, 4:02 am Pacific time, and at 12:02 pm Universal Time (in London) – this is the SAME time that the Full Moon was exact at two weeks ago!

Think back – what was going on for you around the Solstice and Full Moon the whole week of July 20th? Those topics will receive another New Moon boost in early July!  Sun and Moon are joined by two other “personal” planets Venus and Mercury to form a quadruple conjunction in Cancer!

And a very rare “sacred envelope” symbolism is painted by the stars in the heavens with a powerful message inside…” (some astrologers are calling this a mystic rectangle, see above~L)

Mystic RectangleThis consists of four planets connected in a rectangle of two sextiles and two trines, together with two oppositions connecting the opposite planets.  The combination of tense and harmonious aspects produces the best possible potential for the constructive use of natural talents.

Good News Everyone!!!

A ray of hope for Antarctica ozone depletion, via

 Scientists led by Susan Solomon at MIT – who have tracked Antarctic ozone in the month of September from 2000 to 2015 – say that they’ve observed signs of healing in the Antarctic ozone layer.

And Now for the Vedic side of the story from Kari Field:

“Steady the mind, anchor into your truth, and prepare yourself for some incoming storms. The New Moon of  July 4, 2016 (4:03 am PT) holds all the ingredients for brewing up some intense weather – both internal and externally. If you feel drained of energy, stuck, or held down by your fears, this lunar cycle offers a lightening bolt of inspiration that could jolt you into new levels of growth.

The New Moon will be in the area of the sky known as Ardra Nakshatra, a brilliant star in the constellation of Orion called Betelguese.  In Vedic Astrology, this star is said to bring storms and is symbolized by a teardrop.  From Ardra’s starry heights, Rudra the destroyer (a form of Lord Shiva) cries down teardrops upon us like rain in a thunderstorm.  Though not smooth and easy, this New Moon offers a dramatic liberation from the past.

Ardra is notorious for drumming up inter-generational relationship storms – especially issues between father and son and mother and daughter.   This is a lunar cycle that offers extraordinary insight and opportunity for healing old relationship and family wounds.

Ardra tends to cause heightened irritability and this can feel quite turbulent to more sensitive individuals. How do you process though resentment, anger and sadness?

If possible, take time for self-care and healing practices and avoid harsh situations and isolation. Practicing mindfulness-based meditation will be especially soothing at this time, as well as taking peaceful walks in natural settings. Deep self-understanding and insight may be gained through carefully observing ourselves and others during this lunar cycle.   This New Moon holds the potential to dramatically improve our lives by helping us to move through grief and release the past.”

“The Sun and Moon coincide for a New Moon in Gemini in the eye of the storm on July 4th, at 4:01 am PDT. Ardra (also Arudra) is a Vedic star-sign known as “the moist one.”  This star is related to Rudra, the fierce and destructive form of Shiva. Rudra is often depicted surrounded in a violent, transformational storm.   Ardra nakshatra is also related to the image of a teardrop, symbolizing sorrow but also the process of emotional purification. Rudrakshas are sacred seeds worn by Shiva, translated as “the tears of Rudra.”

Amidst the sorrow and destruction brought on by this transformative deity, there is stillness at the center of the storm. Shiva is in fact the greatest of yogis, who is able to maintain a peaceful meditative state despite the ongoing process of destruction and renewal happening throughout the cosmos. If we tune into our own center, we can awaken the pure consciousness that helps us to weather any storm.

A third image relating to Ardra is a diamond, a radiant shining gemstone that is formed after enduring intense heat and pressure. This is definitely a warrior nakshatra, offering us the power to purify ourselves by withstanding austerity and challenge. It is related to Rahu, the planet who brings forth our deepest psychological shadows, helping us to grow and mature.”

I love this version by Shantala, hope the link works.  Benji Werthheimers’ voice is Shiva’s to me.  I kinda have a minor Shiva~Rudra obsession.~L

“This is the last, best chance to completely overhaul your current life before the beginning of the next cosmological year in spring 2017. Now is the time to vacate the premises, quit your miserable job, leave your not-so-perfect lover, etc. Of course these changes are possible whenever, but the further that we move into the year, the more entangled we become in our commitments and the more difficult our extraction from these commitments becomes.

So this is it, you’re all in or all out. I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say it again: do not ignore your intuition. This new moon is a settling force – she will rivet you firmly in place. I cannot say that it will be a clean break because Cancer does have a flair for emotional drama, but you will know that the change in direction you want to make is the right one if it makes your heart feel lighter.

The New Moon in Cancer: at once a beginning and a sweet send-off. We have so much to look forward to in the coming year. As I write I feel something too big for words swelling inside my heart. I believe in the good things coming.

(She went nomad, too, so it looks like I can’t drop in on her at the start of my trip next week. ~L)

The tides begin to turn as the Moon wanes, cycling towards completion. This new Moon begs for more- more of everything. It especially wants you to feel more- so that you can start making some bigger changes for yourself. This may not be a comfortable process. Watch excess on every level and notice where you’re just trying to numb or mask your painful shadow parts.
New Moon is on July 4th at 05:02 am. Metaphorically this is a day of independence in the US, which suits this new Moon and waxing cycle to come very well. How much freedom will you feel? That depends on your willingness to show up for yourself and break open the shadow you are clinging to.”
Here’s an interesting exercise from Joni Patry, Vedic Astrologer:

“For this exercise, write what you are angry about for two weeks [starting at the new moon] and at the time of the full Moon read over all of your writings and you will see a recurring theme. It is the issue that must be resolved. At the time of the full Moon we can see more clearly. The light illuminates the darkness and our shadows.  During the waning moon (from full to a New Moon), put into action what you can do to resolve your issues of anger. Mainly not blaming others and acceptance of the conditions you have unconsciously created. Consciously doing the work that improves your condition and ends the blame game will change your life. If you want to heal your life and have an affect on the world you must first start will changing your own life. To resolve your anger will have the most powerful effect on your life and on the world. If you can come to a place of peace this will reverberate outwardly to the world.

Sometimes things have to come to a head to be healed and this is exactly what is occurring right now in the world and in our lives individually. Now is the time astrologically to use the power of Mars to address our inner anger to heal the world’s anger.”

Take it from us, Shiva.  Wash it away.
